Seth Godin: I think doing name tags properly transforms a meeting. Here's why
- People don't really know everyone, even if they think they do.
- If you don't know someone's name, you are hesitant to talk to them.
- If you don't talk to them, you never get to know them and you both lose.
- If you are wearing a name tag, it's an invitation to start a conversation.
Name tags are always a good idea at conferences and meetings where there are a large amount of people who you have never met before or whose name you can't remember. I sometimes wish they had name tags at gigs too - I have had so many awkward conversations with people whilst desperately trying to remember their names or if their boyfriends' wanted to kill me.
This is also a good idea for the next 27Dinner - too late for tonight perhaps, but it would definitely help break the ice at the next Jozi one.
