    Amatomu launches

Amatomu, the M&G backed South African answer to Technorati uncloaked this week. I am not sure if they were planning on launching so soon, but Tyler Reed (who is quickly making a name for himself with intelligent, useful posts) spilled the beans on Tuesday. I had been playing around with it for about a week, thanks to an invitation from Vincent Maher, M&G strategist and coding superhero.

I think that the M&G have really scored a coup here by being first to market with a much needed application. It was common knowledge that there were a few other South African developers working on similar projects - some of them must have been gutted when they turned on their RSS readers on Wednesday morning. Vincent and his team are also really setting a good example of how to do rapid prototyping and development, soliciting feedback from their early users and fixing bugs and rolling out improvements and updates very quickly.
